Market positive after US jobs data

The ISEQ Index finished strongly in line with world markets yesterday after strong jobs data was released in the US.

Government data showed the jobless rate dropped by 0.3 percentage points in September to 7.8%, its lowest since Jan 2009. The benchmark index of Irish shares increased by 37.2 points to 3,339.3.

In the financial sector, AIB and Bank of Ireland gained 0.1c and 0.2c to 5.5c and 10.3c. Permanent TSB by contrast lost 0.2c to 2.6c. Meanwhile, insurer FBD Holdings added 5c to €9.85.
