Tullow discovers natural gas off Kenya

Irish oil exploration company Tullow Oil has discovered the first natural gas find off Kenya, adding to Tullow’s recent first inland oil discovery in March.

Tullow discovered the gas in a joint venture with Apache Corp, and Pancontinental Oil and Gas NL.

The partners, together with Origin Energy Ltd, found 52 metres of gas at the Mbawa-1 well in license L8 after drilling 2,553 metres down, Tullow said in a statement yesterday.
