Aer Lingus passenger numbers rise

Aer Lingus recorded an increase in passengers carried, up 11% on the figures from last month and beating Ryanair’s 9% monthly passenger increase.

Total flown passenger numbers, including Aer Lingus regional operations, increased from July when the airline carried 1,004,000 passengers, rising to 1,116,000.

Despite the impressive increase, Ryanair’s numbers continue to dwarf the former state airline. Ryanair carried a record 8.9m passengers in August, the second highest monthly figure ever. Ryanair is the only European airline to carry more than 7m passengers in one month.
