Certification company to create up to 20 jobs

A leading certification company, DQS UL, will create up to 20 jobs in Cork after it opened its Irish office.

The company provides recognised management systems certification to professional companies, across all industries in Ireland. It is expected that the company will create 15-20 jobs, five of which will be full-time positions.

DQS managing director Bernard Connery said: “We are delighted to have set up a base in Ireland. As a nation we are respected for our industry standards and procedures. Many people may not be aware that Ireland was one of the leaders in the harmonisation of standards globally, which led to the International Organisation for Standardisation. DQS was among the first in the world to issue certification for ISO back in the early 1980s, and has been a world leader in certification since then.”

DQS Irish office will allow business people to use a single supplier of certification to cover their whole supply chain.

Mr Connery said: “In reality, our expansion into Ireland reflects the rapidly growing client base we have achieved here, due to the high proportion of corporations based in Ireland, but it is a symbiotic relationship, as it allows industry in Ireland to flourish, with increased access to international markets.”

Minister for Innovation and Research Sean Sherlock said: “Companies like DQS, who are trying to create a bigger market for Ireland rather than taking a share of the market, boost industry here at home. Recognised certification of industry standards, as provided by DQS, can only work toreinforce Ireland’s reputation nationally and globally as we strive to advance economically, and place ourselves as market competitors across all sectors of industry.”
