Sarah’s honey caps promising year with sweet taste of success

A year after the brand was launched, Sarah’s Wonderful Honey has celebrated the range’s first anniversary with a prestigious Great Taste 2012 award.

Sarah Gough picked up a coveted two-star gold for her Sarah’s Zesty Honey with Ginger, with judges citing its “beautiful taste” as the reason for the award.

The honey is produced by the Gough family business, Mileeven Fine Foods, and since launching the brand the company has seen a 25% increase in business from domestic and international markets.

Sarah’s Wonderful Honey covers a range of speciality honeys.

Following an initial investment of €100,000, the range has seen an exceptional first year of growth, particularly across its export market, and is now available in Ireland, the UK, France, Germany, the US, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Japan and, most recently, China.

Ms Gough said: “I have been travelling across the globe promoting the range for the past year and the feedback has been amazing. It has also been so rewarding to see the range stocked in some of the world’s leading food halls including Harrods, Selfridges, and Dean and Deluca.

“Sarah’s Zesty Honey with Ginger is one of my favourites so this award is particularly sweet.

“This product is particularly popular in the United Arab Emirates and on a recent store visit in Dubai, I was told a particular sheikh had just bought 75 jars.”

Sarah’s Zesty Honey with Ginger will now display the Great Taste 2012 logo.

The Great Taste Awards are hosted by the UK’s Guild of Fine Food. To win gold, a product is judged by at least three teams of experts, including restaurateurs, food writers, and buyers from leading multiples, food halls, and delis.
