State will consider Ryanair takeover bid

The Government has said it will consider Ryanair’s proposed takeover of Aer Lingus and the sale of its 25% stake in the former state-controlled airline.

The issue of Ryanair’s third offer for Aer Lingus — which was made last week — arose at a Cabinet meeting yesterday.

Afterwards the Department of Transport said it would consider and study the offer.
