Irish developers create tool that takes app from mind to market in minutes
Dave Kearney and Ian Hannigan, who came up with the programme, won the Archie Talks 5 Kickstarter Award for entrepreneurship with their app development and testing product.
Mr Hannigan said they had developed the app as a timesaver to help designers move quickly form concept to prototype.
“Designers and developers can go from initial concept to prototype in under 15 minutes, which saves them a lot of pain and effort,” Mr hannigan said.
“This will allow for an idea to move from the designer’s head to it running interactively on a phone in minimal time.
“With the explosion of app development across the world, we wanted to build a tool that cut the time and cost during the design stage so that more great ideas can get to market fast.
“It’s really simple because users can just drag and drop and the interfaces they need for the mock-up are already made.”
The prototyping tool that Fluid UI have developed has received a huge amount of interest from design agencies and US universities.
“Users can go online and access the tool at FluidUI.com at the moment but there are plans to commercialise the tool on a subscription basis,” Mr Hannigan said.
When the software is commercially launched this month, Fluid UI will be offering flexible monthly or yearly subscription plans to suit large and small budgets.
Co-founder Dave Kearney said over 2,000 business have signed up to test the software to date.
“We have lots of plans for expansion in 2012 and will be supporting the start-up weekend in Wroclaw, Poland, later this month where we will make the software demo available to new businesses there as a trial run for wider planned promotional activity.
“With the right investment we hope to steadily and sensibly expand our products and team. Support for tablets such as the iPad2 and Android tablets is already in the works.”
