LRC process aims to break staff cuts stalemate at AlB

With talks between the two sides at stalemate, AIB and its staff unions have sought the help of Labour Relations Commission to try to find agreement on how it will cut its workforce by 2,500 and on the fallout for remaining staff.

It is expected that LRC director of conciliation Kevin Foley will spend several days hearing submissions and assessing the positions of the sides before making a recommendation on the way forward for the bank.

The process is being launched today, the same day as AIB chief executive David Duffy prepares to release its annual results for 2011.
