Topsy turvy day on markets

It was a strange day for European shares, as the day started well on the back of positive performances in the US and Asian markets overnight, only to give back ground throughout the day on light news-flow and volumes.

Irish banks were mixed on the day, AIB was the only financial to rise, adding 0.1c to 9.6c. Bank of Ireland and Irish Life and Permanent lagged, the former fell 0.3c to 12.9c while the latter remained at 4.5c. Insurer FBD Holdings slipped 15c to €9.05.
