Market virtuatlly static on slow day

The ISEQ traded within a tight range for most of the day, eventually finishing 6.93 points off at 3,299.25.

This small loss mirrored many bourses across Europe.

Banks had a down day as AIB and Bank of Ireland lost ground. The former lost 0.6c to 10.3c while the latter dropped 0.1c to 13.6c. Irish Life and Permanent fell 0.2c to 4.5c. Insurer FBD Holdings added 10c to €9.20.

Construction stocks had a mixed day as CRH added 5.5c to €16.28. However, Grafton Group and Kingspan fell. Grafton closed down 1c at €3.23 while Kingspan shed 13.5c to €7.96.

Elsewhere, media company UTV Media rose about 19.5%, or 27.5c, to €1.67. Independent News and Media also performed well, tacking on 1c, or 4%, to 25c.
