Cross-border vets to discuss ways of safeguarding consumer health

Veterinarians from the North and the Republic are gathering to discuss strategies to safeguard consumer health at the One Island, One Health conference later this month.

Conference attendees will also hear the latest scientific updates and will explore the concept of One World, One Health in the context of how it could relate to Ireland.

Veterinary Officers’ Association president James Casey said: “Outbreaks such as avian influenza, Sars and BSE remind us that human and animal health are intimately connected through the ecosystems in which we live and the interfaces between humans and animals.
