EMC’s Savage is Ireland’s most trusted leader

Ireland’s most trusted leader is EMC Ireland’s vice-president and managing director Bob Savage, according to the Great Place to Work Best Workplace Awards.

Mr Savage, a Cork native, manages EMC, a global leader for information communications technology sector. He won the award for his approachable and accessible management style.

Microsoft has been listed as the best large company to work for in Ireland for the fourth year in a row.

Google Ireland, PepsiCo, EMC Information Systems, and McDonald’s rounded out the top five in the large organisation category. Estate agents Jones Lang LaSalle won the best medium-size company award and Hilti, the construction technology company, won the first ever best small workplace award.

Jobs Minister Richard Bruton said that creating a good working environment would be key to Ireland’s recovery.

“A key part of our enterprise and jobs recovery will be ensuring that our businesses become exemplars of best practice in everything they do, including the way they treat their staff,” he said. “We will continue to support businesses who strive for excellence, not only in the quality of their products, but also in the quality of their workplaces.”

Special recognition awards went to: Topaz, which won the team award; Bright Horizons, which received the inspiring award; Google Ireland, which received the thanking award; Unicare Pharmacy, which received the speaking award; Boots Retail, which received the developing award; and Dell Ireland, which received the caring award.
