OPERATING profits at the Brown Thomas retail group more than doubled last year to €5.3 million, in spite of a drop in revenues.

Accounts filed by Carlow Investment Company, the entity that operates the Brown Thomas group, show that the group’s operating profits increased by 101% from €2.6m to €5.3m in the 12 months to the end of January 29 last year.

The high-end retailer enjoyed the increase in operating profit, in spite of revenues dipping from €146.6m to €142m.
