Intel Shannon profits rise 15% to €3.78m

PRE-tax profits at the Shannon-based R&D arm of chip giant Intel increased in 2010 by 15% to $4.9 million (€3.78m).

In 2009, Intel Shannon Ltd announced a €50m investment at the plant involving the creation of 134 R&D jobs developing “the most advanced silicon technology on the planet”.

The investment in the development of Intel’s nanotechnology capability will bring to 300 before the end of this year the numbers employed at the company’s Irish Design Centre in the Shannon Free Zone.
