A COMPREHENSIVE support strategy for enterprise and jobs needs to be developed by Government early in the New Year, if Ireland is to avoid being dragged into a double-dip recession.

That was one of the central messages communicated by the Small Firms Association (SFA) yesterday as part of its end-of-year statement.

The organisation’s chairman, Ian Martin, said that any job promises made by Government can only be delivered through successful small businesses — which “need the right environment to thrive”.
