Co-ops to enhance lab traceability via new online reporting system

LARGE dairy co-ops and some independent processors are to enhance their lab traceability in 2012 via a new online reporting system.

Cavan-based IT company Dairy LIMS already provides its advanced web-based laboratory information management system (LIMS) to Glanbia plants in Drogheda and Ballytore, Co Kildare. While Glanbia stores its data on servers in its own data centre, some dairy companies will opt to avail of secure online lab access through the firm’s cloud-based offering.

Dairy LIMS director Kevin Kenny said: “There are two processes. One is to put the information on to the cloud; the other is for the client to use their own servers, which is the option some of the bigger co-ops may prefer.
