Based in Cookstown, Co Tyrone, the company has seen a surge in demand for food products that are convenient and healthy.
HTO founder, mother-of- two Shauna McCarney, said that modern parents are under time pressure but also want to give excellent quality food to their children.
Ms McCarney said: “In the late spring or early summer, I hope to launch a new range of quality ready-meals such as risotto and curry. This will be a new range of recipes and products for use in stage two and three weaning following the success of our baby food range.”
That success has been recognised with two awards in recent weeks, one on each side of the border. She won the award for Indigenous Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Women in Business Awards in Belfast, which featured comedienne Ruby Wax as guest speaker.
She also won the award for Business Parent of the Year at the recent Maternity and Infant Awards in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin. These awards are organised by Maternity and Infant Magazine to recognise the best products and services for mothers and babies throughout Ireland.
Ms McCarney is confident that winning these awards will help create more awareness of her products throughout the North and the Republic, where she has already received interest from some retailers wishing to stock her products.
“I created the company to provide parents with fresh organic baby food in a convenient format, giving convenience without the guilt. Working parents have less time now than ever before. They don’t always have time to cook, but they still want to give their family the best possible food,” she said.
“For many years, it had been my dream to run my own business, and before having my first child I became very interested in healthy eating and organic foods. Two children later, and on discovering the massive gap in the market for fresh organic baby food, I have worked hard to create an organic baby food company.”
Ms McCarney plans to launch into the Republic and London within the next two months.
