PORK products supplier Oliver Carty Ltd has been named the SuperValu overall Irish Food Producer of the Year.

The Westmeath company, which supplies pork products to SuperValu nationwide, was chosen for its investment in new packaging technology, and the innovative products it has brought to the market this year.

Seven food and beverage companies won awards at the event in Dublin, in association with Enterprise Ireland.

Along with the overall prize, six category winners were chosen from hundreds of entries. Category winners included Best Newcomer: Farmers to Market; Best for Quality: Dunn’s of Dublin; Best for Innovation: Oliver Carty Ltd; Best Fresh Product: Keeling’s Ltd; Best Local Producer: St Tola Goat Cheese; The People’s Choice: Barry’s Tea.

SuperValu managing director Martin Kelleher said: “Ireland’s food and beverage sector is Ireland’s largest indigenous sector and is renowned as one of the best in the world.

“SuperValu is proud to support Irish suppliers and the awards are an opportunity to celebrate them,” he added.
