FALLING consumption levels led first-half losses at electrical goods retailer, Dixons Retail to widen by over £18 million (€21m).

The group — which operates the Currys, PC World and Dixons Travel brands — yesterday reported an underlying pre-tax loss of £25.3m for the six months up to the middle of October.

This was up from a loss of £6.9m on the corresponding period in the previous year.
