RECRUITMENT group Oxford International is to create up to 40 positions at its office at Penrose Quay, Cork.

Oxford to create 40 jobs in Cork

The company has begun hiring for these positions and expects to reach 70 staff by next June. The sales jobs are primarily recruiters, account managers and admin positions.

Though Oxford’s staff is based in Cork City, only 3% of its sales turnover is generated within Ireland.

The primary markets which the Cork office serves are Western and Central Europe, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

John Murray, Oxford operations manager Europe, said: “Our recruiters build relationships with IT and engineering consultants with the aim of putting them to work when we have a job requirement. Our account managers work to find clients who have a need for IT and engineering consultants.

“We have already begun our staffing drive and have hired five sales people in the last three months. We expect to hire four more people this side of Christmas, with a further six positions in the first quarter of 2011. Our aim by the end of 2011 is to have 60 full-time employees, and 70 by June 2012.”

Oxford’s new positions have come about as part of the company’s decision to create a new permanent staffing desk in Cork. This is in response to approaches from clients across Europe seeking permanent staff in addition to the freelance IT and engineering contract employees they typically recruit.

Sales revenue is expected to increase by 95% from 2009 to 2010, while On Assignment generates over US$400m (€300m) in revenues, and expects to see continued growth.
