C&C’s €20m acquisition boosts its US standing

The Dublin-headquartered drinks group — chiefly known for its twin cider brands of Bulmers and Magners — has, according to management, been tracking the Hornsby’s cider brand for the past 12 months and acquiring it means that C&C is now ranked the number two cider company in the US, with a 20% share of arapidly-growing market.

Hornsby’s has been owned by the famous Californian-based wine company, E&J Gallo and the deal marks the first time that company has disposed of any of its divisions.
