Gold-rush hopes as firm granted prospecting licence

A MOVE by Pat Rabbitte, the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources to grant a prospecting licence for gold and silver to a Dublin-based firm for land in east Clare, has created great local excitement.

Clare mayor, Cllr Pat Hayes said: “I hope the company can find gold or silver as it would provide a long-term benefit.

“At the same time, I would like to see the rights of farmers being protected and this can be done through consultation.”
