AGRI-FOOD sales figures are providing a lone source of optimism for businesses north and south, according to the latest Business Monitor from InterTradeIreland.

The body singled out agriculture as the principal course of optimism for Irish business, with 64% of businesses in this sector reporting that they are either stabilising or growing.

Director of strategy and policy at InterTradeIreland Aidan Gough said: “For the first time in a number of quarters, we are seeing some positive signs for some business — mainly larger firms which are reporting an increase in sales performance.
