Lessons to be learnt from Ryanair route cuts
So we should not be surprised with Ryanair’s decision to pull out of its Cork-Dublin route when it no longer made economic sense for them to continue on the route. However, it does make a big hole on Cork’s connectivity to Ireland’s main business centre and onwards connections.
There have been regular daily flights from Cork going back to the day Cork Airport opened in 1961. Originally the route was serviced by then national carrier, Aer Lingus. More recently it was taken over by Aer Arann and serviced until recently by them along with Ryanair following its entry to the route.
