Dublin route closures ‘will hit tourism’

THE scrapping of Ryanair’s flights from Cork and Kerry to Dublin will have a devastating impact on the region, tourism representatives have said.

There are also fears that less competition could lead to higher prices, while travellers may have to shell out for a night in Dublin if they are flying out of the capital.

However, Irish Rail gave a commitment yesterday that it would continue to offer discounted fares, adding that air operators only had a “tiny share” of the market.
