Profits at eBay rise to €2.85m

PRE-TAX profits at an Irish unit of online auction giant, eBay increased almost five-fold to €2.85 million last year, new figures show.

According to accounts filed with the Companies Office, they show that eBay Europe Services Ltd recorded the increase in pre-tax profits after revenues increased by 36% from €25.5m to €34.7m in the 12 months to the end of December 2010.

The numbers employed by the company increased from 387 to 502 last year and its principal activity is providing customer-support services, corporate administration services and other services on behalf of the eBay group.

The company employed over 500 at the end of 2010 and the directors state that the increase was as a result of a further expansion of European customer support activities in the company.
