MEMBERS of Sean Quinn’s family were yesterday restrained from making changes to their international businesses — worth an estimated €500 million — until September 9.

On that date, Mr Justice Frank Clarke will give his decision on the jurisdictional issue which was argued between Anglo Irish Bank and the Quinn side over the past three days at the High Court in Cork. That issue is whether the matters can be dealt with at the High Court in Ireland or whether related proceedings in Cyprus take precedence.

Mr Justice Clarke ordered yesterday that pending his determination on the jurisdictional issue, the defendants — Sean Quinn; his children Ciara, Colette, Sean Junior, Brenda and Aoife; his nephew Peter; two of his sons-in-law, Stephen Kelly and Niall McPartland; and two companies, Quinn Investments Sweden AB and Indian Trust AB — are restrained from a series of actions.
