POTENTIAL savings of €46 million at Dublin City Council should lead to lower commercial rates for businesses in the city, according to Dublin Chamber of Commerce.

The potential savings were identified in the Independent Review Groups Report on Staffing Levels in Dublin City Council.

Staff numbers could be reduced by nearly 20%, with payroll savings of €46m by the end of 2014. All these staff reductions would be achieved through natural wastage or through a voluntary, targeted redundancy scheme, the report states.
