Glanbia chief Moloney honoured for enterprise and innovation by IMCA

THE Institute of Management Consultants and Advisers (IMCA)) has presented Glanbia group managing director John Moloney with its annual medal for demonstrable enterprise and innovation with lasting impact.

The award of the medal recognises the achievements of Glanbia plc in developing from its origins in the Irish co-operative movement to strong positions in key food markets and sectors around the world. The award was presented to John Moloney in recognition of his role as group managing director of Glanbia plc over the past 10 years.

IMCA president Tony O’Brien said: “This year we are proud to honour John Moloney for 10 years of achievement and leadership at Glanbia. In this period the business was refocused around its US Cheese & Global Nutritionals and Dairy Ireland divisions, strategically aligned to joint ventures in the USA, Britain and Nigeria.

“The agri-food sector is one of the key drivers for our economic recovery and much-needed export-led growth. The sector is unique in terms of its export content and high usage of domestic raw materials and services which generate significant value-add in the Irish economy. It employs more than 135,000 people and has exports valued at nearly €8bn a year, with for example over 85% of dairy products exported.”

John Moloney thanked the IMCA for recognising Glanbia and its journey of transformation. He said he has been privileged to lead a great team in implementing this journey for Glanbia over the last ten years.
