AIB plans to cut more 2,000 staff

ALLIED IRISH BANKS PLC executive chairman David Hodgkinson said he aims to complete the bank’s plan to cut jobs by December 2012.

AIB plans to cut more 2,000 staff

Allied Irish said in April it will eliminate more than 2,000 staff after posting a record €10.4bn net loss as real estate loans soured.

In an e-mail to staff obtained by Bloomberg News, he said the lay-offs may begin in October after severance packages have been agreed.
