Further energy price hikes expected

THE wholesale price of oil, coal, gas and electricity continued to fall last month, but consumers can still expect price hikes later in the year.

The Bord Gáis energy index fell by 5% last month, but the index has risen over 20% in the last 12 months.

The wholesale price of natural gas and coal were little changed last month but a fall in electricity and oil prices pushed the index down.
