PROFITS and revenue at the holding company of the Irish Daily Mail both fell marginally last year.

Accounts just filed with the Companies Office show that Associated Newspapers (Ireland) — which publishes the Irish edition of the Daily Mail newspaper, along with its sister Sunday title — made a pre-tax profit of €1.44 million in the 12 months to the end of October. This figure was slightly down on the €1.56m profit generated the previous year.

Turnover for the company’s latest fiscal year amounted to just over €18.9m; down by 2.3% from a €19.4m figure in the previous 12 months. The latest accounts also show that Associated Newspapers’ Irish operations suffered an 8.3% fall in operating profit, from just under €1.6m in 2009 to €1.46m last year. After-tax profits fell from €1.34m to €1.15m.
