Revenue growth for UK law firms

London: Revenue at Britain’s 100 largest law firms rose by 3.9% in the year ending April 30, a survey by accountants Deloitte LLP found.

A 1.6% increase in productivity across the group, and a 2.4% rise in the number of lawyers accounted for the gain, Deloitte said in its quarterly legal industry survey.

“The performance in the last quarter was certainly stronger than many people anticipated,” said Jeremy Black, a partner in Deloitte’s professional practices group.

British law firms have suffered through two years of stagnant growth after a drop in deal work as a result of the 2008 credit crisis.
