DUNNES STORES saw its market share increase for the first time in almost two years as it retained loyal customers.

Discounters Aldi and Lidl also saw their market share surge in the 12 weeks to May 15, according to the latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel. The discounters combined now represent over 10% of the Irish grocery market.

Dunnes Stores posted sales growth of 1.4% and increased its market share from 23.6% last year to 23.7% for the same period this year, following 21 months of stagnation.
