Berlin: German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Free Democratic allies are threatening to impose more conditions on future eurozone bailouts as they seek to tap voter anger in a bid to reverse the party’s collapse in support.

Delegates at a party convention will debate a motion on the euro that says “in no case whatsoever” can Germany assume the debts of other countries and demands investors share the bill for any aid given to indebted states.

“We’re at a crossroads,” Otto Fricke, the FDP’s budget spokesman said.
