UPC subscriber numbers up 11%

Dublin: UPC Ireland has reported an 11% year-on-year growth in subscription levels for the first quarter of the year.

The company now has 811,700 customers across its digital television (formerly the Chorus/NTL brand), broadband Internet and home phone offerings.

Total subscriber numbers are up 26,000 in the quarter. The biggest growth — 58% — was evident in the home phone offering, where UPC now has 108,900 customers.

Meanwhile, 3 has announced a €38 million contract with BT Ireland, which will see the latter’s fibre network rolled-out to more than 200 new mobile sites and support to a further 1,000 sites that currently serve 3’s customer base.
