Strong credit union ‘a public imperative’
Discussions are taking place between the Central Bank and the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) on the development of a strategy. The ILCU said these talks are aimed at addressing the supports needed for credit unions in the current “challenging economic climate” and to “ensure the continued success of the movement into the future”.
CEO of the ILCU Kieron Brennan said a “strong, viable and competitive” credit union alternative to the remaining commercial banks in Ireland is a “public imperative”.
