Dublin: Junior Government Minister Brian Hayes says the Government “will continue to fight for a cut” of the country’s bailout interest rate, while defending its low corporate tax rate.

“Any change in our corporate tax rate, at a time when Ireland needs stability and certainty, would be utterly self destructive. We will not be bullied or intimidated.”

He added that there is an “urgent and compelling need to bridge the yawning gap between spending and revenue” in the public finances.
