ESB to recruit replacement from within as chief retires

ESB chief executive Padraig McManus, who received a total of €752,568 pay in 2009 has informed the company’s board that he intends to retire from the post where he has served for nine years. He will remain in the role until his successor is appointed.

It is understood that the ESB are likely to look inside the organisation for a replacement for Mr McManus but names such as Bord Gáis chief executive John Mullins have also been mentioned.
