No change in EBS bidding status

Dublin: The National Treasury Management Agency says there has been no change to the bidding status for EBS Building Society since October, when two bidders were shortlisted for the government-controlled lender.

“There is no change to the situation as previously advised,” a spokesman for the agency, which is handling the process, said. He was reacting to comments from Michael Noonan of Fine Gael, Ireland’s largest opposition party, that an American company had been identified as a preferred company for the company.
