Specialists in the provision of drilling and ground engineering services to clients, Meehan are the first Irish company to have the capabilities to drill down to 10,000 feet.

In order to drill for conventional oil and gas, deep geothermal and coal bed methane, Meehan has invested in state-of-the art machinery, including a Schramm TXD rig.

Director Johnny Meehan: “The coal bed methane industry in the UK is relatively small, however, with the continuing decline in natural gas from the North Sea, it is becoming an increasingly popular source of gas.

“Coal bed methane now accounts for up to 7% of the energy use in the US and Australia and Meehan Drilling, together with IGas, are keen for the UK to follow suit.”
