In for Lunch sandwich firm expands deal with Tesco

CORK-based specialist food firm In For Lunch has significantly enhanced an existing distribution relationship with supermarket giant Tesco which will see the brand go nationwide.
In for Lunch sandwich firm expands deal with Tesco

Currently, the sandwich- making firm — which employs 12 people — serves the Cork market solely; where it has been providing stock to Tesco for the past two years and leading a Bord Bia-backed distribution network, whereby it delivers food products for other companies as well as its own.

It also generates revenue through a corporate catering service for local companies.

However, the new agreement with Tesco will see In For Lunch provide stock for all of Tesco’s Irish stores and will boost the value of its contract with the grocery giant to around €250,000 per annum.

“We’re delighted that Tesco has appreciated our constant efforts to maintain the quality of our product. Their support over the past two years in Cork has been great,” said Jim Kelsey, managing director of In For Lunch.

“We are especially delighted that Tesco recognises our quality to the degree that they now stock our best-selling sandwiches throughout the country,” he added.

To date, the company has focused its products locally so that it can keep its distribution costs low and instead pay for high quality ingredients for its sandwiches.
