250 jobs created by Citi
The new positions will be offered as the company expands operations in Dublin and Waterford over the next 18 months.
The American Chamber of Commerce Ireland congratulated Citi on their ongoing growth.
Chamber chief executive, Joanne Richardson, said: “Citi is one of the most established multinationals in the country, employing 2,200.”
She described the move as a “significant vote of confidence in Ireland as a location of Foreign Direct Investment, specifically in the services sector.”
“The announcement by Citi builds on the already positive growth of Ireland’s multinational community throughout 2010, which has seen over 4,000 jobs created by US companies.”
The jobs will mainly be in operations, funds, technology and product development.
Citi country officer for Ireland, Aidan Brady, said: “The Government’s pro-business approach and IDA Ireland’s support for projects in the financial services sector has been vital to our continued success.”
Barry O’Leary, chief executive of IDA Ireland, said: “Ireland’s international financial services sector is recovering and in expansion mode.”
