Whitegate plant set for opening

Cork: Whitegate Power Plant, Bord Gáis’s first major investment in the Irish power generation sector, is to be officially opened on Monday next by Minister Micheál Martin.

Bord Gáis say that this 445MW gas-fired power plant is one of the most efficient power generation facilities in the world, and is a key strategic development for the company.

The company also said that the station is a key development for the state as it enhances the country’s security of supply and energy mix.
