ORGANIC farmers could significantly increase their profits with a relatively small investment in marketing and promotion, according to analysis of the suite of events surrounding the recent National Organic Week (NOW).

A Bord Bia national survey indicated that 39% of adults would be more likely to purchase organic food as a result of the activities during NOW, a series of 73 nationwide events which ran from September 13 to 19.

Bord Bia also reported that the value of organic food sales increased by €2 million to €23.5m for the 12-week period both directly before and after National Organic Week when compared with the same period in 2009.
