Obama praises Portugal’s efforts

Lisbon: US President Barack Obama praised Portugal’s government for committing itself to “a very vigorous package of economic steps” as it dealt with challenges created by the global economic crisis.

“We are going to be working with all of Europe as well as Portugal in support of these efforts,” Obama said after meeting Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Socrates.
