Leading health commentator to talk on health benefits of dairy produce

NUTRITION, dietitian and health commentator Paula Mee is to host a free promotional talk on the health benefits of consuming dairy products at the Clarion Hotel, Sligo, from 7pm on Thursday, November 25.

Organised by the National Dairy Council (NDC) and Connacht Gold, the event follows recent promotions, in which sports personalities and health experts unveiled new research on milk’s health benefits over high energy sports drinks.

Mee will address the subject of Dairy Through The Life Stages. Her talk will look at the importance of encouraging people to manage a balanced diet from the early years, highlighting the importance of having fun with food from childhood.

She will also offer her view on the latest scientific research on milk and dairy products as part of our diet throughout our life stages.

Mary Fox, general manager of Connacht Gold’s consumer foods division, said: “Paula Mee’s expertise is a huge draw and adds to the value of the evening tremendously. Having spoken with people around Sligo over the last few weeks, we’re expecting another big attendance and we’re encouraging people to come along early to make sure of a seat.”

Paula Mee will review subjects including body weight and obesity, discussing the research which identifies how incorrect the misperceptions are that many people have about self-image and dairy as part of their weight management regimes.

The importance of nutrition in other health matters which arise throughout the various life stages will be addressed.

Other speakers will include counsellor Fiona Hoban, and hair and beauty expert Rossa Danagher. For further details, call 071 9160883, or visit: www.ndc.ie, or www.connachtgold.ie.
