50 jobs for Cork as firms expand

Recruitment firm Oxford International is planning to double its workforce by creating 30 new jobs at its Penrose Quay office.

Oxford president Michael J McGowan said their business has seen a significant rebound this year, especially in Europe and market indicators suggest their business will continue to improve into 2011 and beyond.

“We are adding to our team in Cork to take advantage of these favourable conditions,” he said.

Oxford will begin hiring for these positions from now through to the end of next year and the sales jobs are for recruiters and account managers.

John Murray, Oxford Operations Manager, Europe said: “Our recruiters build relationships with IT and engineering consultants with the aim of putting them to work when we have a job requirement. Our account managers work to find clients who have a need for IT and engineering consultants.”

Meanwhile, an award-winning butcher has created 20 jobs as part of a €4.5 million investment in a new store, bringing to five the number of outlets it now operates.

O Crualaoí Butchers’ newest venture in Carrigaline, Co Cork was officially opened at the weekend by Enterprise Minister Batt O’Keeffe and encompasses a traditional style butcher counter, delicatessen, and sit-down cafe in a 5,000sq ft premises. Customers can also avail of outside catering options for private functions. Local lady and chef Geraldine Hartigan will manage the shop having managed the O Crualaoí Delicatessen in Ballincollig for a number of years.
