A RISE in the number of people starting their own business helped boost profits at the IE Domain Registry (IEDR) last year.

It reported that operating profit increased by 3.5% to €386,960 last year. Turnover, however, fell by 7.1% to €2,336,937, mainly driven by rebates and the price reduction of 10%.

IEDR, which is a not-for-profit organisation that manages Ireland’s domain .ie, said new domain registrations were up 8.1% to 37,055 last year. Total .ie domains increased by 17.3% to 135,903 year-on-year.
