PCs contribute 40% of CO2

RESEARCH by Gartner shows PCs and monitors contribute about 40% of all business CO2 emissions.

Powering down idle PCs will cut electricity bills, carbon footprints while it improves PC performance and prolongs the lifespan of the components.

Meanwhile, IT company Smarttech has been awarded the exclusive distribution of a revolutionary software solution for businesses.

The software, developed by EnergyWatchIT (UCC, with Energy Sense Ireland and Enterprise Ireland), will cover the cost of its installation within six months.

Smarttech’s Ronan Murphy said: “This new and unique software can cut energy bills by 50% or more, save €55 per PC per year and reduce carbon footprint.”
